PIT Inspections at Ryders Auto Centre
A pit inspection gives us a clear look at the parts of your car you can’t see from the driveway. By putting your vehicle over the inspection pit, our mechanics can check the underbody, suspension, steering, brake lines and exhaust properly — rather than guessing from above.
What we check during a pit inspection:
- Suspension & steering: Shock absorbers, bushes, ball joints, tie rod ends and CV boots are checked for wear, play and splits.
- Brakes & brake lines: Pad and rotor condition, hoses, and hard lines are inspected for wear, corrosion and leaks.
- Underbody & chassis: We look for rust, accident damage, loose mounts and anything that could affect the structure of the car.
- Exhaust system: Joints, hangers and the muffler are checked for leaks, blowing and corrosion.
- Leaks: Engine, gearbox, diff and power steering are checked for oil and fluid leaks that are easy to miss up top.
- Tyres: Tread depth, uneven wear patterns and sidewall damage, including the spare.
A pit inspection is worth booking if you’re buying a used car, preparing a vehicle for a licensing inspection, chasing a knock or vibration, or clearing a defect notice. We’ll walk you through what we find, show you anything that needs attention, and give you a written quote before any work starts — no surprises.
